In my recent college poetry class this tribute to the peach fulfilled one of my assignments. I thought it fitting to post here amid my other peachy ideas.

The Peach

A peach drips with subtle spunk,

teasing, tickling,

sweet,

an off-beat flavor, the taste of sunrise,

firm, but tender,

the pit yielding, with just a little coercion,

and a gentle tug before releasing,

so perky, the peach,

but beneath the fuzz it’s blushing;

almost embarrassed to be so good.
